About Chris
Chris Laney
Chris is a writer, pilot, and creative entrepreneur dedicated to helping others succeed by finding what lifts them. His recent novel, Flying Colors, is a modern-day parable on finding the courage to follow your dreams.
As an entrepreneur, Chris has owned and grown two multi-million-dollar businesses with numerous employees. He’s currently CEO and co-founder of Zenergy Technologies, a firm that helps companies large and small develop better software and improve their technical solutions.
Throughout his career, Chris has received many awards, including the Triad Business Journal’s 40 Leaders under 40 in 2006, two Fast 50 awards for Zenergy’s growth, and Entrepreneur of the Year for 2013 from The Nussbaum Center for Entrepreneurship. He was also the inaugural American Heroes for North Carolina’s Freedom Award recipient.
Chris's background includes serving as the US Navy Fleet Anti-Submarine Warfare School’s class honorman, achieving the highest GPA in the institution’s history, and receiving the Thad Stem scholarship for the arts for writing. A lifelong fitness advocate, he lettered as a collegiate diver on East Carolina University’s swim and diving team and has taught Les Mills’ BODYPUMP and RPM classes.
In addition to writing numerous magazine feature articles, Chris teaches the creative writing class, The Write Motivation, and offers coaching for those looking to enhance their writing skills or start a book project.
